Admission Information
The basic admission qualification for postgraduate courses is completion of a recognised bachelor degree. Details of admission qualifications and additional requirements such as work experience, supplementary forms or interviews are listed in the Postgraduate Coursework booklets available from the Student Enquiry Service or Online.
In exceptional cases an applicant may be admitted as a candidate for a specific course if the applicant submits other evidence of academic and/or professional attainments and the admission is approved by the Faculty for the course in which the applicant seeks to enrol.
As all classes are taught in English and students need to be competent in spoken and written English. Intensive English courses are available for students who do not meet the English requirement specified below. Students whose bachelor degrees have been taken in a country where English is not the main spoken language must provide evidence of English proficiency
Below are some answers to frequently asked questions;
How do I apply to study a postgraduate coursework program?
Applications for some programs must be lodged through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) while applications for other programs are lodged directly with Macquarie University. The 2009 Coursework Program Schedule sets out the method of application. Please ensure that you lodge your application at the correct location as incorrectly lodged applications will not be processed.

What is the last date that I can lodge my application form?
The closing dates for applications directly to Macquarie (excluding Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, Master of Accounting, Applied Finance Centre and Macquarie Graduate School of Management) and through UAC are identical, so the closing date for an application depends on the program for which you wish to apply.
If you wish to apply to commence a program in second half-year 2009 and wish to study on-campus (internal mode) then the main closing date is 29 May 2009. The final closing date for on-campus/internal mode programs is 30 June 2009.
If you wish to commence a program in second half-year 2009 and wish to study off-campus (external/distance mode) then the main and final closing date is 29 May 2009.
I am applying for the Postgraduate Diploma/Master of Accounting Programs. When is the last day I can lodge my application form?

What are the University's English Proficiency Requirements?
The University has recently updated its English Proficiency Schedule. Click here>> to view the University's English Proficiency Requirements. Remember to provide examples of your proficiency in English.
I
am an International Student. How do I apply to study a
postgraduate coursework program at Macquarie?
International students do not use the forms available
at this website. Please refer to the Macquarie International for admissions and application information for
International students.
Can
I fax my application form and documents?
No.
Faxed application forms and documents are not acceptable.
Any faxed forms or documents will be held as incomplete
until the original form and documents are received.
What
if I have not yet finished my final semester of study?
If
you are currently completing a semester and believe
that it is your last semester of study for the program
in which you are enrolled, you may lodge your application
and forward your final semester results when available.
Your application will be sent to the relevant Department
for consideration, but any Offer made will be subject
to proof of completion of your current studies.
Please note: you must still forward certified evidence
of the units you have studied and the grades obtained
thus far. If you state on your application that you
are currently enrolled in your last semester but do
not provide certified proof your application will be
held as incomplete until the document is received.
What
documents do I need to attach to my application?
You
need to attach certified evidence of your residential
status (i.e. birth certificate, passport), academic
transcripts for all studies completed by you, and proof
that you have qualified for the award of the program
e.g. testamur, transcript with conferral line.
Please make sure that you read of the instructions and
submit all required documents. Any applications
which do not have all of the documentation attached
will be held as incomplete until the required document
is received.
What
does it mean by "certified" documents?
It
is a document that is a photocopy of the original
but has been "certified" as a true copy
of the original. Click here>>

Any documents which have not been correctly certified
will be returned for certification. Until the documents
are received back correctly certified, the application
will be held as incomplete. If the documents are received after the closing date there is no guarantee that your application will be considered.
If you have difficulty in locating someone to certify
your documents, bring copies of your documents along
with the originals and the staff at the Student Enquiry
Centre, Level 1 Lincoln Building, will certify them for you.
What
does it mean if I am notified that my application
is "incomplete"?
If you have been notified that
your application is incomplete it means that your
application has not been sent to the relevant Department
for consideration as it still has documentation outstanding.
You should try to send in the required documentation
as soon as possible so that your application can be
sent for consideration.
