Change of Personal Details
Change of address or other personal information must be completed via the web on eStudent. You must keep your address up to date because failure to so so could result in important correspondence or course information not reaching you. The University cannot accept responsibility if official communications fail to reach you if you do not advise us of your correct address.
Change of Course to a New Degree
If you wish to change to another course you must make a new application for that course. Application forms are available at the Student Enquiry Service, Level 1, Lincoln Building or >>click here. Lodge the completed form at either the Student Enquiry Service or with the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) whichever is applicable for the course. Applications to UAC may also be completed via the UAC web. Closing dates are on the relevant application forms or are available at the Student Enquiry Service.
Credit for Previous Studies
Request for credit/exemptions should be made as follows:
- For direct applications to Macquarie, complete Section 11 on the application form. Requests after submission of an application or after enrolment should be made on the Postgraduate Request for Credit Application form (for Direct Applicants only).
- For UAC applications, download the Postgraduate Request for Credit Application form (for UAC Applicants only).
- Documentation required MUST be attached and sent with either form.
Forms are available from the Student Enquiry Service, Level 1, Lincoln Building or download from >>here.
The policy for the granting of credit at postgraduate level is as follows:
1. Candidates who have completed relevant postgraduate studies at Macquarie University or another university may receive up to a total credit of 25% towards a Macquarie award. Those who have only partially completed a postgraduate award may be granted credit up to 50%. Credit is not granted for undergraduate units.
2. Units that are deemed to be relevant to the course of study and which are part of a completed course may only count towards core and option requirements, but not towards electives. Generally, credit should not be granted for electives and instead different electives should be substituted wherever possible.
3. Credit for previous studies may only be granted if the studies have been completed within the previous ten years. Professional qualifications and work experience do not attract credit.
4. Where Macquarie University offers a set of articulated coursework awards [certificate/diploma/degree], candidates who have completed requirements for one of the lesser courses in the set may have that award conferred and also receive full credit towards the higher award for relevant studies completed. Any credit/exemption request will be subject to the approval of the Dean of the Division.
5. Requests that fall outside the above guidelines should be forwarded with supporting documents to the Postgraduate Studies Section for consideration by the Coursework Studies Committee.
Criminal Records Check
The NSW Government has enacted legislation which requires students enrolling in a course requiring a placement or access to facilities operated by the NSW Department of Health to undergo a Criminal Records Check. New students who are offered a place in a course for which this is a requirement will receive a NSW Department of Health Criminal Records Check form in their enrolment package. This should be completed according to the instructions with the form and returned as soon as possible after receipt.

You may need to complete a "Request for Re-Admission" application when you wish to return [refer to see the section below]. The University does not guarantee the continued availability of a particular courses or unit of study from year to year.

Progress in a Postgraduate Course
Postgraduate candidates must maintain satisfactory progress in their course of study. Postgraduate Coursework Master, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate Rules indicate that, if a candidate's progress in a course is unsatisfactory, candidature may be terminated.
